I redid my altar to Freyja today. I’d come across some old gold jewelry when separating things out for a garage sale (to raise money for the Pagan Pride day my group hosts in central Illinois). I immediately connected gold to Freyja, she who cries tears of red gold, and decided these would make perfect offerings to decorate her altar. Its not as elaborate as she’d like (its certainly no Brisingr), but it’s what I have for now.

The candle holder bases are filled with every scrap of Fool’s gold I own, and the candles sprinkled with rose petals and lavender (what I had to hand–offerings of strawberries to come later) there are three necklaces and a ring, all gold and gold-plated, and brass earrings that are Freyja-approved. There is also a beatifull glass vial with brass stand. It’s intended for perfume but I haven’t found quite what to put in there. 😦 I’ve considered a perfume designed for her (aka Brisingamen by BPAL), or a perfume I consider particularly sensual (which has yet to be found), or perhaps an annointing oil (mayhaps with mugwort?) for divination/magicks.

Hail to Freyja, Beauty of the North,

Seer of the Hidden Realms within,

Who’s golden braids entwine the hearts of Lovers,

Be welcome Lusty Queen of Wild Things!

My new altar :)

A piece I’ve been waiting to get finally arrived today: my handsome new skull!

I’ve needed a vessel for my Ancestors for quite some time. I hope to go deeper working with my Ancestors, and to do that some sort of vessel was needed; nothing better than a skull, and this one is perfectly me! An almost-metallic deep red with swirls and spirals cut through to the ‘bone’ underneath–yes, this Libra has to have things pretty. 😉

With the arrival of the new altar piece it called for a new altar! Here is my new setup!

With a ‘Well’ out front and darling Amanita tucked behind the offering dish. 😉 I intend to tuck incense behind the statue so curls of sacred smoke rise from the unseen and snake their way past the black mirror.
